What are Frown Lines?

Frown lines, also known as glabellar lines or “11” lines, are the vertical lines that appear between the eyebrows and above the bridge of the nose. They are often associated with facial expressions of concentration, anger, or worry and can give the face a tired or angry appearance.

Why Do Frown Lines Occur?

• Repeated Facial Expressions: The repetitive movement of the muscles between the eyebrows, particularly when frowning or squinting, can cause the skin to crease and form frown lines over time.
• Ageing and Reduced Skin Elasticity: As we age, the production of collagen and elastin in the skin decreases, leading to a loss of elasticity and the formation of wrinkles, including frown lines.
• Genetic Predisposition: Some individuals may be genetically predisposed to developing frown lines, making them more prone to their early onset or increased severity.
