Rosacea
What is Rosacea?
Rosacea is a chronic skin condition that primarily affects the face, causing redness, visible blood vessels, and sometimes small, pus-filled bumps or acne-like lesions. It typically occurs on the cheeks, nose, chin, and forehead. Rosacea can vary in severity and may cause discomfort or self-consciousness due to its noticeable appearance.
Why Does Rosacea Occur?
Abnormal Blood Vessel Response: Rosacea is associated with abnormal blood vessel dilation and increased blood flow to the skin. This can result in persistent redness and flushing episodes.
Inflammation: Chronic inflammation is thought to play a role in the development of rosacea. Inflammation can cause the blood vessels in the skin to become more visible and contribute to the formation of acne-like bumps.
Triggers: Certain factors can trigger or worsen rosacea symptoms, such as sun exposure, hot or spicy foods, alcohol, stress, extreme temperatures, and certain skincare products.
